Nov 21 Frontera for lunch today and easily spent my alloted half-hour counting the birds. On my hurried exit, I noticed what I quickly (and profoundly falsely) ID'd as a Two-Barred Flasher, quickly snapped a photo, signed the guestbook, told two guests about the butterfly, and called my boss Bryan about it-- turns out... it was an EMeRaLd AGUNA!!!!! That Yochum is an IDIOT!! It's hostplant the non-native Orchid Trees that bloom profusely here in South Texas. Special thanks to Linda and Buck Cooper of FL, who correctly identified it-- life bug for me!

Nov 27 Estero The Butterfly Walk appeared to be doomed on a dark, dreary, cool day that threatened rain (in fact it did sprinkle after we broke up).  The very first butterfly of the walk though had an even dozen participants ogling and photographing a wonderful HaMmOCK sKIpPeR!  The dark skies were wonderful for little dark skippers, but a bit bad for some of the big showy ones:    Little Yellow, Silver-Banded Hairstreak, Mallow Scrub-Hairstreak, Red-bordered Metalmark, American Snout, Red Admiral, White Peacock, Mexican Bluewing, Tawny Empeor, Hermes Satyr, Queen, Soldier, Long-Tailed Skipper, Brown Longtail, Mazan's Scallopwing, Sickle-Winged Skipper, Mournful Duskywing, White and Tropical Checkered-Skippers, Laviana White-Skipper, Fawn-Spotted Skipper, Clouded Skipper, Southern Skipperling, Fiery Skipper, Whirlabout, Southern Broken-Dash, Sachem, Common Mellana, Eufala and Ocola Skippers.
